About Our Name: Emmaus Road

The Gospel of Luke (chapter 24, verses 13-35) recalls the story of a mysterious traveller who encountered two bewildered men on the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus.  They had painful, unanswered questions.  The man who they thought was 'the one' to save their people--Jesus of Nazareth--had just been executed like a common criminal.  They were alone and afraid.

But that mysterious traveller spoke to all their concerns through the Scriptures and at just the right moment, in the breaking of the bread, He revealed His true identity to them: It was Jesus Himself, risen from the dead!  Up until then, they did not recognize Him for who He truly was, but now they did.  And from that point onward, their lives were never the same.

Then and now, Jesus meets those who seek Him right where they are, questions and all.  No matter who you are, where you've been or what you've done, He wants to meet you, too.  And once you recognize Him at work in your life and meet Him for yourself, your life will also never be the same.

Just like those first travellers on the Emmaus Road, we too encounter Jesus through reading Scripture and breaking bread together.  There is joy and hope in travelling life's road with Jesus and his friends.  We at Emmaus Road Anglican Fellowship invite you to meet Jesus with us.
